I don't go to McDonald's anymore, but in my childhood, I remember going all the time. Sometimes I would go with Nonna and Nonno, or with my Zia, or with my friends. Every time I pass McDonald's now-a-days, I immediately think of an Egg McMuffin - why? Because, it brings me back to, and makes me think of my dad. Every Sunday, during ski season, he would drive me to the Mount St. Louis/Horseshoe Valley Ski Hill for my weekly lesson. McDonald's, of course, was conveniently on the way. We left the house early in the morning, and every time we would stop for a McMuffin meal. Eventually, when my sister came along, we included her in our little tradition, but it wasn't ever the same.
The McMuffin tradition has become ingrained in my childhood memory. It's among the many I share with my dad, but for some reason it sticks out the most. I suspect this is because we, my dad and I, shared the time together - just us - before Kezia came along. We were forced to communicate and hang out. My dad and I have a weird relationship: we have a better texting relationship than an actual face-to-face one, but we share a ton of great memories and good times.
