Welcome to Humanities!Humanities is a unique course that blends English, Social Studies, and Christian Education into one learning experience for our Grade 8's.
In Humanities, we strive to educate the whole child. Our goal is to help students develop socially, intellectually, and spiritually so they grow into individuals who have confidence, values, and respect for others. In alignment with the NEW BC curriculum, we will use the year, our skills and knowledge to develop the core and curricular competencies. These "core competencies along with literacy ... foundations and essential content and concepts are at the center of the redesign of curriculum and assessment." In Humanities, students will engage in deeper, life-long learning to develop their communication, creative/critical thinking, and personal/social skills. |
Christian EducationIn CE this year, we will focus our attention on the old testament and the stories that formed our faith. Let's learn about Abraham, Moses, and Joseph and how these histories influence us and our spiritual development.
|
EnglishEnglish is more than reading and writing. It's learning how to think critically, analyze, and interact with print, media, and the world around us. It is the ability to communicate ideas effectively, with purpose, and conviction.
|
Social StudiesLet's travel the world and learn about different cultures, religions and histories. Let us honor those who lived and died before us and learn from their mistakes to create a sustainable, promising, and beautiful future for ourselves and the generations to come.
