Part 3: Careers and Professions
Take the personality quiz and read through the results.
|
- After taking the test, you'll come to a "results" page - you'll be given a four letter "personality code". Just below the results, there is a button that says "Learn more about your type" - click it.
- Read about your personality - do you agree with it? Why/Why not?
- Below your personality, you'll see three boxes. Click and read: Type Description: Strengths and Weaknesses; & Career Paths, Workplace Habits
Once you've taken the quiz, choose three career possibilities that interest you most - even if they are not listed in the results of your personality test.
|
Given these interests, and what you've learned about these careers, design and plan your academic course load. What courses will you have to take in high school? What extracurricular activities does ND (or other institutions) offer to help make my career goals a reality? Which post secondary institution might be a good fit for me? What volunteer opportunities are related to my career choice and how might I take advantage? How does this career influence my community? How does this work affect society?
Use Notre Dame's Academic/Career Planning guide to help you complete the sheet. Make sure to look at the graduation requirements and possible entrance requirements into your choice of post secondary institution. Use this Google document as an example and guide.

Part 4: Presentations
There are two components to the presentation portion of this work.
Part A: Submit all of your work to your teacher - parts 1-3.
Part B:
On February 2nd and 3rd, the grade 8 Flex classes will host a Career Fair in the cafeteria. You will have time to set up (8:30-9:00am) and then at 9am, the fair will begin.
For the fair, choose one of your career paths to explore in further detail. Design a poster board with all of the important details about the job (things you've already discovered). You may wish to speak to someone in your chosen field to help you create and capture the essence of what it means to be in that profession.
At the fair, be prepared to discuss your chosen career in its entirety. The ND community will undoubtedly have questions for you, so you'll need to be prepared to answer them.
