NO HOMEWORK ASSIGNED! Prepare to study for your midterms! Friendly reminder, these are the sheets you need to study:
1) Italy during the Renaissance worksheet 2) Florence and Venice worksheet 3) Italian city states quick cheat sheet 4) Medici family/Lorenzo the magnificent video guide 5) Argument study guides 6) Italian artists "study guide". These are the worksheets you already have! 7) Copernicus/Galileo worksheet (which will be small) Tomorrow in class I will have copies of ALL these worksheets if you need one! If you'd like another digital copy, please email me at [email protected]. It is my job to provide you with the tools you need to study and succeed! We will spend at least one period working on our projects, then it is YOUR JOB to complete the project for homework! If you would like to use my example as a reference (on Jan Van Eyck), here it is! docs.google.com/presentation/d/15kZSdMD7nCrK_0OfTsAfFMNTPr_IEXbCQ8BG2pb-jl0/edit?usp=sharing Homework:
If your group has completed your debate (YAY) then fill out the reflection sheet! If your group has not participated in the debate yet, please continue to prepare your information! You will be given NO MORE TIME in class to work on this, your groups had ample time in class today and the class prior! REMEMBER TO WASH YOUR BODY WITH SOAP AKA COMPLETE YOUR SOAPS!!!!! Missing diary entries: Jaeland, Dante, Mileva. We have already spoken in class (and of course you're not in trouble), so please EMAIL ME @ [email protected] Homework:
Complete your argument outline submission! Just one member (the 'team captain") needs to submit this document! Additional resources: docs.google.com/document/d/1sYPfuapNcKFNNav8fcJsyWjrxUK6xrUW4ImnWxGB7rg/edit?usp=sharing This is a link for all the approved documents that you can use to form your arguments! IF you need your sheet that you filled out from last class, CHECK YOUR GOOGLE CLASSROOM UNDER, "Outline of points completed in class". Your sheet is filled and completed so complete the argument outline submission! NOTE: FOR ALL THE STUDENTS WHO DID NOT SUBMIT THEIR JOURNAL ENTRIES, EMAIL THEM TO ME @ [email protected]! THIS IS DUE BY WEDNESDAY NIGHT FEBRUARY 14TH, SO I CAN GIVE FEEDBACK! Homework:
Log into class twitter (username: humanities8ndrs) and tweet the following: "what are one or two things I learned about the Medici family or family life in general during the Renaissance?" If you need the password, please email Mr. Francia at [email protected] Complete diary entry, DUE ON TUESDAY FEBRUARY 13TH! Steps to help you out! 1) Choose one of the diary entries! Which one can you picture yourself in? Which one sparks more ideas, more of an interest? 2) Brainstorm! What questions do you want to answer in the first diary entry? Which questions do you want to answer in the second diary entry? What is interesting to YOU about the scenario? The family business? The wedding hall? The look of your future husband or wife? Play with ideas! 3) Write a rough draft! Start to write and have fun with it! Make sure to follow the rubric, answer at least 4 of the questions in the assignment guidelines! Are you stuck? Refer to your diary (journal) entry writing guide sample! Is it not complete? Take a look at this: docs.google.com/document/d/1OaG4cgMhPycOkHMtF_M5IOWGVBjcj5SfheFTQUAGVxM/edit?usp=sharing To help you all out, I have a finished chart you can refer to! There's information on wedding gowns, understanding how a girl felt being in an arranged marriage and everything that was presented in the presentation! Also if you want to refer back to the presentation: docs.google.com/presentation/d/1ha2butZDr0AmmRnS5F6JuiT-FbyOkjf6FjkiV1sPSnw/edit?usp=sharing 4) After writing your rough draft, take a break! Come back to the assignment after an hour or two or even a day! You earned a break. 5) When you're reviewing, here's some tips! A) Read your diary entry out-loud, and if you stumble, edit the section! B) How many times do you repeat the word "and"? Can it be substituted with a comma? C) check how many times you use the same word! If you're describing the first scenario, how many times do you call Lebrono a jerk? Can you change the word jerk to Fool? Dunce? Stupid? Be creative! IF YOU'RE STILL STUMPED, here are some websites I have approved to help you out! prezi.com/6rvya1kwmdme/medieval-and-renaissance-marriage-customs/ This has details on wedding customs/description of wedding dresses! There is overlap with the Middle Ages but keep in mind, some practices from the Middle Ages carried over into the Renaissance! www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/wedd/hd_wedd.htm This website has details on wedding customs and wedding feasts! Keep in mind, some of the content is not relevant to our activity, so don't get side tracked! Follow the assignment guidelines, the scenario YOU have chosen! These resources will help you out! Have fun and enjoy the assignment! ADDITIONAL: I forgot to add the links to the videos! For all the choir members, here are the two videos we watched in class! They are fairly short, so try to watch both of them. If you can't, watch the one on the OVO website about Lorenzo the Magnificent! It's a really good video (the first one)! www.ovo.com/en/lorenzo-de-medici/ www.youtube.com/watch?v=xegmabCyIss
